Ryan Rolison was scheduled to make his professional baseball debut as a member of the Grand Junction Rockies, today.
But the wait will be a little longer – four days to be exact – when the 2016 graduate of the University School of Jackson takes the mound in a road game for the Rockies against the Billings (Montana) Mustangs, Tuesday.
Rolison was selected with the 22nd pick overall in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies, and assigned to the parent club’s Rookie League affiliate in Colorado.
He was scheduled to be on a 35-pitch count when Grand Junction played host to the Ogden (Utah) Raptors in Grand Junction, today.
Rolison, who completed his sophomore season at the University of Mississippi, became the first Ole Miss baseball player to be selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft since 2010.
