Ryan Rolison, a 2016 graduate of the University School of Jackson, is scheduled to make his professional baseball debut as a member of the Grand Junction Rockies, Friday.
Rolison, a left-handed pitcher, was selected with the 22nd pick overall in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies, and assigned to the parent club’s Rookie League affiliate in Colorado.
He will be on a 35-pitch count when Grand Junction plays host to the Ogden (Utah) Raptors in the Pioneer League game at Suplizio Field.
Rolison, who completed his sophomore season at the University of Mississippi, became the first Ole Miss baseball player to be selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft since 2010.
