Richard Watson appointed new Madison County Commissioner – District 10, position 3

Richard Watson, owner of RMW Installation & Construction, is the new Madison County Commissioner for District 10, position 3.

Watson was appointed by the Madison County Commissioners when they held their monthly meeting at the West Tennessee Research and Education Center, Monday.

Watson, who fills the unexpired term of Harold Petty.

Watson ran for the District 10 seat in the May 2022 Madison County election, and had 456 votes compared to 501 for Petty.

“Harold would not have been disappointed if Richard had won, because he knew he was a quality guy,” said Gary Deaton, chairman of the Madison County Commission. “Richard comes with a high recommendation from Harold Petty.

“Harold wanted to stay on, but he had health issues and said he was not able to serve his constituents.  Harold was a Marine and he acted like a Marine.”

Watson, a husband and father of two children in the Madison County School System, serves on the Conservation Board, which oversees the Madison County Parks Department.

He is also captain of Station 18 of the Madison County Fire Department.

Before starting his own business, Watson began working for Jackson Energy Authority in 2013, serving as a gas pipe layer and in field operations.
