Ribbon cuttings open new TBI Crime Lab & Regional Headquarters, THP facility on Smith Lane

It was Law Enforcement at its best when ribbon cuttings offically opened the De’ Greaun ReShun Frazier TBI Crime Laboratory & Regional Headquarters, 350 Smith Lane, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol District 8 Headquarters, next door at 336 Smith Lane, Friday.

“I along with our children, Kamaryn and Kendrix, our families and friends are extremely honored to be here and pleased to be a part of this amazing tribute to my husband,” Shannon Frazier said, “One of my bereaved prayers to God, and my impassioned request to the TBI Command Staff after ReShun’s untimely and tragic death was that his ultimate sacrifice would never be forgotten and that his heroism and bravery would always be remembered.”

TBI Special Agent De’ Greaun Frazier died in the line of duty during an undercover operation in Jackson, Aug. 9, 2016.

Gov. Bill Lee said members of the TBI and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are the ‘dividing line’ between chaos and order.

“Our society would not be one of order if it were not for that dividing line,” Lee said, “That’s really what these two buildings are about – that’s why the investments have been made – long before I came along.

“I have nothing to do with really with these projects, other than to encourage the use of them in a way that furthers the greatness of this state and the order of our society here in Tennessee, and the protection of law abiding citizens in our state.”

Lee, who mentioned he was not in office when the project started, was joined at the ceremony with Congressman David Kustoff, 8th District, Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally, State Senator Ed Jackson, Commissioner Jeff Long, Department of Safety & Homeland Security Colonel Matt Perry, Tennessee Highway Patrol Director David Rausch, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

De’ Greaun Frazier was hired by the TBI in 2016 and worked in the Drug Investigation Division.

Prior to working at the TBI, Frazier had 15 years of public safety service with several law enforcement departments, including the Millington Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

Located south of McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport, the new crime lab and regional headquarters consists of 49,000-square-feet, and the the total project budget – building and equipment – is $26 million.

The new crime lab and regional headquarters is expected to create about 100 new jobs.

The new Tennessee Highway Patrol Headquarters consists of 20,000 square feet and replaces the building at 20 Vann Drive, that was constructed in 1967.
