NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A report card that provides achievement and growth of Tennessee schools shows the state’s graduation rate improved to 88 percent, the third consecutive year it’s increased.
The 2015 report card was launched online Thursday.
Besides the state’s graduation rate, which was 87 percent last year, the report card shows the percentage of students meeting college and career readiness benchmarks on the ACT, as well as student enrollment and ethnicity.
State education officials say the report card is a tool to equip districts and communities with the data to make informed decisions to support their students and educators.
Jim Wrye is assistant executive director of the Tennessee Education Association, the state’s largest teachers’ union.
He applauded the high graduation rate and said it’s a “testament to the hard work of teachers.”
