JACKSON, Tenn. – (News Release) Registration for the Follow Me Into Business® Summer Jobs Program hosted by the Jackson Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce begins Monday of Spring Break. Young people, ages of 12 and 18 living in Jackson and Madison County, are eligible to participate in the program which meets during June and July.
During Spring Break, March 25th through 30th, parents can pick up an application packet at the African American Chamber office located at 351-C North Royal or at Nell Huntspon Flower Box in the same building. Applications are also available for download from the Chamber’s website (www.jmcaacc.org/youth.html). Space is limited. For consideration, the application returned no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
The Follow Me Into Business program offers free business training along with shadowing and mentoring opportunities for ages 12-15 as well as paid summer jobs for ages 16-18. Founded in 2002, the Follow Me Into Business® youth development and job readiness program is designed to train middle and high school students for success in the business world. Since it began nearly 800 young people have participated.
The 2019 summer program runs from June 6 through July 26. Meetings are held at the Huntspon Business Complex, 357 North Royal in East Jackson. There is a closing awards ceremony for participants and their immediate family members.
