Reed scheduled for next court appearance after not guilty plea, release on bond

Alex Reed, chief of staff for the city of Jackson, appeared before Judge Kyle Atkins, Division III, Madison County Circuit Court on charges of electronic tracking of a motor vehicle and stalking, Friday.

The charges – which resulted in the indictment and arrest of Reed – stemmed from an investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Reed, who was represented by Tim Crocker, plead not guilty to the charges, was released on a $5,000 bond, and scheduled for his next court appearance June 3.

in September 2023, TBI special agents began investigating allegations of an electronic tracking device placed on a citizen’s vehicle in Jackson.

According to a report from the TBI, D. Michael Dunavant and Meghan Fowler of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference were both appointed to represent the state. During the investigation, agents determined that, in January of 2023, Roland Alexander “Alex” Reed was responsible for placing the tracking device on the vehicle without the owner’s consent and monitored it for a period of time.
