A Memphis TV station is reporting that a social media post making the rounds yesterday depicts Lauderdale County Sheriff Steve Sanders using a racially offensive word.
The sheriff admitted to a Channel 3 reporter that it “just slipped out” and apologized.
Peaceful protests began yesterday in Lauderdale County and, according to Channel 5, there is an event planned Saturday – a march from the sheriff’s department office to the sheriff’s house.
Protesters are calling for Sanders’ resignation.
The reports state Sanders has been sheriff in Lauderdale County for 16 years.
