‘Protecting the Protectors’ – Local First Reponders shown appreciation by State Farm Insurance agents

When State Farm Insurance agents in Jackson presented First Responders with 600 Canary Home Security Devices, Wednesday, it was a matter of showing appreciation to those who are appreciated.

Designed to ‘Protect the Protectors,’ officials representing the Madison County Fire Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson Fire Department and the Jackson Police Department attended the presentation at the Madison County Fire Department, and each received 150 Canary Security Devices for individuals in their respective departments.

Since 2015, Canary and State Farm have partnered the program designed to provide security to First Responders across the country, so that they too can know that their homes and loved ones are safe and secure while they are serving and protecting others.

“Locally, we support police, fire and EMS departments through grant funding for community safety programs and volunteerism,” State Farm agent Wes Harris said. “It was clear that in order to accomplish our goals, we need to work with exciting and creative partners. We found that in Canary.”

Jackson is the first City in the state of Tennessee to award the home security device to First Responders.

Harris said State Farm recognizes and appreciates the job First Reponders does in providing citizens with safe and secure neighborhoods, and through ‘Protect the Protectors,’ his organization wanted to return the favor.

Harris, and fellow agents Allan Brown, Ron Darby, Darrell Kimbell and Brandon Jones made the presentations – 150 to each of the four organizations.

State Farm sales leader Joe White and community relations specialist Judy McConkey also attended the event, which was held at the Madison County Fire Department, 2432 Technology Center Drive.

“We appreciate what State Farm has done,” Deputy Chief Barry Michael, of the Jackson Police Department said. “We have crime around Jackson, and fires around Jackson, and First Responders are not exempt from any type of crime or fire damage.

“This is a great way of letting us know that our homes can be safe, as well.”
