Prosecutor’s Son Sentenced to 3 Years

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The son of Clarksville District Attorney General John Carney Jr. has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a Fort Campbell soldier.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports John Carney III was sentenced along with two others who entered pleas in the case. The others were sentenced to probation.

As part of the plea agreement, aggravated burglary and false imprisonment charges against Carney were dismissed.

Police say the men invaded an apartment in May and held a Fort Campbell soldier against his will, taking a safe from his home.

John Carney Jr. blamed prescription drug abuse for his son's arrest.
