The consideration of an ordinance to rezone property located at 191 Vann Drive from General Residential to Planned Unit Commercial Development, was approved on the First Reading by the Jackson City Council during their monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
Original plans for the 5.03-acre development call for a walkable community – residential and retail.
While home owners in the area of Country Club Lane and Seventeen Green voiced their opposition to the proposal citing additional traffic congestion in the area, 80 duplexes became the next option for developers.
Council members J.P. Stovall, Richard Donnell, Larry Lowrance, Russ McKelvey and Julie Holt approved the rezoning – Candice Busby, Frank McMeen, and Marda Wallace voted no. Johnny Dodd was absent from the meeting.
