It doesn’t appear the popularity of food trucks in Jackson is about to diminish any time soon.
In fact, it’s growing.
There are 41 food trucks roaming Jackson and Madison County, which is an increase from the 31 that were on the streets in January, 2019.
A familiar food truck sighting is The Farmer’s Perk – Cock-A-Doodle Dough Craft Doughnuts – which is owned by Ignacio Morales and generally found at the corner of West Lafayette Street and Shannon Street at The West Tennessee Farmers’ Market.
“I’m purchasing the truck from Seth Nelson in December 2018, and we’re here Tuesday through Saturday,” owner Ignacio Morales said, “We offer coffee – caramel and toffee – and doughnuts … mini doughnuts with different toppings.”
Business hours are 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“If we still have doughnuts, we’ll usually stay until 4 p.m.,” Morales said, “So far, business has been OK, but it’s getting busier.”
Some food trucks also have a store – or restaurant – front, such as Coyote Blues, 1430 Union University Drive in Thomsen Farms.
“We’ve had our truck for two- or three years,” owner Barry Nabours said, “I can’t single out any one particular area we visit, but we also work various events such as concerts.”
Nabours said quesadillas and tacos remain two of the more popular items offered.
