Madison County Financial Management Committee met Wednesday and discussed the construction of two new schools, and the future of the new Pope Elementary project also came up in the discussion.
Committee members said the new Pope Elementary project is on hold for the foreseeable future.
Madison County Commission Chairman Gary Deaton again cited the lawsuit that Sheriff John Mehr has filed against Madison County as one unknown factor affecting the county’s finances that we did not have a year ago.
During the meeting, it was discussed that for several reasons, the County just can’t afford The new Pope Elementary School right now.
