
JACKSON Tenn (April 13, 2015) – According to police, around 3:00 AM Sunday morning officers received a 911 call to the area of Oak Ridge St. and Ridgemont Drive in regards to a shooting upon arrival JPD officers found Christopher Carpenter collapsed in the front yard of the 92 Oak Ridge address with wounds to his body.
Carpenter was transported by EMS to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A short time later JPD Ofc. Mullikin stopped a vehicle on Campbell Street because it had what appeared to be bullet holes in the drivers window.
When the vehicle came to a stop the driver fled on foot. Officers apprehended the driver and identified him as Zacharious Cole.
Officers found a revolver with five spent rounds and one miss fired round in cylinder on the ground with a apprehended Cole.
According to the warrant, Cole was interviewed by investigators and gave a statement in which he admitted to shooting Christopher Carpenter with the revolver and taking Carpenters car.
Cole stated that he was in Carpenters car when Ofc. Mullikin initiated a traffic stop investigators determined that the car Cole was stopped in belong to Carpenter
Zacharious Cole is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Carjacking and faces weapon and evading arrest charges.
His bond is set at $500,000. Â He is being held in the Madison County jail.
