(July 9, 2014) Jackson TN - Alert Citizen's Call Leads to the Arrest of a 4-Wheeler Thief

An alert citizen's call is credited in the arrest of a Denmark man who had stolen a 4-wheeler in south Jackson.
Around 11:45 p.m. Monday, officers were called about a car traveling with no headlights on Bellmeade Drive. The caller said that they had seen two men in the backyard of a house on the 100 block of Bellmeade, and it appeared that the men had just stolen a lawnmower. The caller saw the men abandon the item and then leave in a gray Chevrolet Impala.
Officers responded and saw the Impala turn from Old Malesus Road onto Highway 18. The officer lost contact with the car on Highway 18, but was able to obtain its license plate information.
Officers responded to a home on Bellmeade and spoke with the owner who then discovered their 4-wheeler missing. The 4-wheeler was later found in the road a short distance from the house.
The license plate from the Impala came back registered to an address on Betty Manley Road in Denmark. Madison County sheriff's deputies assisted police and found the Impala at the house on Betty Manley Road. Two persons of interest were taken into custody.
Further investigation by police determined that one of the people, Kentarius Womack, 20, was responsible for stealing the 4-wheeler. Womack was charged with felony theft and remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. Womack will be arraigned via video link at 8 a.m. Thursday in Jackson City Court.
The second person of interest was released from jail due to lack of evidence at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department's Burglary and Theft Unit at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 (TIPS).
