Jackson Police responded to a report of shots fired on the parking lot of Walmart located at 2196 Emporium Street at approximately 10:02 pm on September 20, 2019. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile in his late teens with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

The juvenile victim was from a neighboring county and was uncooperative with investigators about the incident. Witness accounts of the events indicate that it was not a random attack but was targeted towards the juvenile and the vehicle that was associated with him. Investigators are continuing to review video surveillance and interview potential witnesses. The juvenile was treated and released from a local hospital.
