MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a Shelby County sheriff’s deputy accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl has been arrested.

Multiple media outlets report that 25-year-old Nathaniel Huntley was arrested Thursday. Police say Huntley is charged with statutory rape by an authority figure.

Police say the alleged sexual assault occurred last month at a home where Huntley had been staying for about two weeks with the girl and her mother.

Investigators say it’s unclear why Huntley was staying at the home.

Huntley was booked into the county jail and his bond was set at $15,000.

He made his first court appearance Friday.

He was held on a $15,000 bond and will be in court again September 25

Authorities say Huntley has been with the sheriff’s office since October 2011.
