JACKSON Tenn – A photo that showed up over the weekend on social media has created a stir among the citizens in Jackson, many of who have contacted police to complain.
the picture is a young black man who appears to be standing on top of a Jackson police car raising his middle finger toward the camera.
The Jackson Police Department released a statement saying they are aware and investigating the incident.
JPD spokesperson Sgt. Derick Tisdale, said there were questions that would have to be investigated “Did someone actually stand on this car? Is it actually a crime and if so what would the crime be? We’ve got to take a look at all these things.”
Tisdale said the department needs to identify the patrol car in the photo and does not know if the car was damaged.
The photo was posted Saturday on a Facebook page appears to have been taken in the JC Penney parking lot of Old Hickory Mall.
The post has been deleted but before the photo was taken down, the photo had generated over 1,000 likes and hundreds of comments and shares.
