Jackson police are investigating a Tuesday night robbery on the parking lot of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, at 620 Skyline Drive.

Around 9:20 p.m., Tuesday night a 52-year-old man and 82-year-old woman were walking together on the parking lot. The suspect approached them and engaged the 52-year-old man in a casual conversation. The suspect then suddenly punched the man and grabbed the woman's purse that was on her shoulder. The force caused the woman to fall down. The suspect then ran away.

Police obtained video surveillance from the hospital, which showed the suspect in different areas inside the hospital on the ground floor. Investigators believe the suspect was searching for a vulnerable victim. Surveillance further shows that he approached the victims as they left from inside the hospital.

The suspect is a black male who appears to be in his 20s. He is about 5' 9" tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He was dressed in all black.
