The Jackson Police Department continues its investigation of an early morning shooting that left one woman dead.

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Lenoir Avenue, which is off East Chester Street.

According to a press release, at approximately 4 a.m., today – Tuesday – officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to Lenoir Avenue for a call of shots fired and discovered a deceased female. The female had sustained multiple gunshots. Emergency Medical Personnel also responded to the scene.

Police Investigators continue to investigate the incident and collect evidence. Jackson Police do not believe this was a random act of violence. However, the investigation is ongoing.
