From the Jackson Police Department –
The Jackson Police Department is investigating an afternoon shooting in which one person was shot and sustained what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury. The shooting occurred in the area of Kemmons Drive.
On July 28, at approximately 4:55 p.m., officers of the Jackson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Kemmons Drive for a report of a gunshot victim. Responding officers located a black male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for treatment.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Jackson Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence but a targeted act of violence directed toward the victim.
