Madison County Sheriff John Mehr is asking the for the public to help locate a suspect in the shooting death of 19-year old Deon Rutherford.
At 10:17 p.m. Thursday, a black Pontiac Grand Prix drove up to the emergency room at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with three black male subjects – one suffering from a gunshot wound.
As emergency room personnel were assisting the gunshot victim, the driver took the phone from the attendant and fled the scene.
A BOLO (Be on the lookout) has been issued for the driver of the car, Jeremiah Mays, who is a person of interest by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call the MCSO or Crime Stoppers.
