Believing downtown was the right place to open a new bookstore, Lauren Smothers has opened the doors to Light Trap Books at ‘THE LOCAL,’ which consists of three separate 300-square-foot facilities, and is located at the corner of West Lafayette Street and North Shannon Street in downtown Jackson.
“We offer new and used books,” Lauren said, “I knew we needed to start small, and it was important to be downtown.”
Lauren said business hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Light Trap Books has company in separate units.
Lakyn Bowman offers home decor products at Lakyn Thrifts – and Abby Ruby is selling art work.
Presented by the Jackson Downtown Development Corporation, the units provide physical micro-retail spaces for local entrepreneurs and artisans to sell their goods and develop their businesses in a low overhead environment.
A green space is attached which accommodates various types of programming to enhance the social aspect of the project.
The development was made possible by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
