Motown Invades The Blue Suede Dinner and Auction

JACKSON Tenn. (November 20, 2014) — Legendary music will again fill the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Downtown Jackson

On Thursday the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, anounced The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards as the featured entertainment annual Blue Suede Dinner and Auction on Feb. 28, 2015.

The Temptations are members of Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.  Dennis Edwards, who joined the Temptations in 1968, is the lead singer of the group The Temptations Review.

The Temptations had 14 gold albums and five Grammy awards, and 38 Top 40 hits. The Review performs many of the original Temptations Motown hits such Papa was a Rolling Stone; I Can’t Get Next to You: Just my Imagination; I’m Gonna Make you Love Me: Ball of Confusion: and Psychedelic Shack to name a few.

This will be the 21st year of the event, Tables of eight can be purchased now at www.carlperkinscenter.org or by calling (731) 668-4000. Concert-only tickets will go on sale Dec. 12.

The program is a fund-raiser Center for Prevention of Child Abuse. The Rusty Mac Adopt a Teen Program has also begun a fund-raising efforts. This program provides gifts to teens during the Christmas season. Started by Rusty Mac in loving memory of his son in 1997 the first year the Center had 18 teens that needed a Christmas. This year there are 325 teens in hopes of having a brighter Christmas. The volunteers and case workers suggest the $100 amount for each teen. Volunteers and case workers will go shopping for them using the teen’s wish list as a guide. Some teens have wanted to use a portion of the dollars for a brother or sister

The wish lists this year included: Hair products, socks and underwear, mechanical pencils, blow dryer, book bag, school uniforms, Bible Study book, bike, watch, clothes, perfume, art supplies, jewelry, snow boots, pajamas and slippers, gloves & hats.
