Morris Merriweather announced his resignation at last night’s meeting of the Jackson-Madison County school board.

“ It is my belief that this board has lost its bearing…” Merriweather stated as one of the reasons he is leaving the position.

Merriweather’s resignation is effective immediately.

NOTE: Merriweather also announced he was resigning from the School Board in February, 2019.

In other news from the school board meeting, the board will be interviewing candidates for a new superintendent of Jackson-Madison County Schools beginning next week.
