History was made Sunday at The Ned in Jackson where the opening ceremony for the first Miss Volunteer America was held.
Pageant winners from 47 states and Volunteer Princesses from West Tennessee and across the country were introduced and placed their state flags across the stage.
The first Miss Volunteer America was to take place last year but was postponed due to Covid-19. The pageant gets underway at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Wednesday night, with the first woman to win the title to be crowned Saturday night.
