MEMPHIS SEARCH WARRANT FINDS MAN OVERDOSING AND SMORGASBOARD OF DRUGS BEING SOLD
Victim Was Being Used As a Table
SHELBY COUNTY, TENN. – A month-long drug investigation came to an end yesterday with a drug house next to a church being shut down as the West Tennessee Drug TaskForce served a search warrant in the heart of Soulsville.
Agents arrived at 1062 Talley Place just before sunrise this morning armed with a search warrant for fentanyl. Upon making entry into the rear of the home, they encountered a 45-year-old actively overdosing. The victim appeared to have been overdosing for quite some time and other occupants had set food on his back, appearing to be using him as a table. Agents administered multiple doses of Naloxone to the victim and called in the Memphis Fire Dept. At the time of this release, the victim is in extremely critical condition at a local hospital.
Upon searching the residence, Agents seized approximately 5 ounces of fentanyl, 5 ounces of methamphetamine, 8.5 ounces of cocaine, 88 oxycodone pills, 3¼ methadone pills, a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, 3/4 pounds of marijuana, 3 sets of electronic scales and $2,375.00 in drug proceeds.
Two Memphis men were arrested on scene for warrants and in connection to the seizures. More charges and arrests are expected as the investigation unfolds and the victim continues to fight for his life.
“The callous indifference shown here dramatizes the human cost of drug trafficking and abuse, degrading both the victim OD’ing and those who casually looked on,” said DA Steve Mulroy. “We’re fortunate that the DTF agents arrived when they did, and had the presence of mind to act quickly to try to save the victim.”
Drug Task Force Director Johnie Carter said, “The depravity that accompanies the sale and use of some drugs, such as using a dying human being as a breakfast table, never ceases to amaze me. I’m thankful our Agents and those assisting us were there, trained and able to render aid so that this man may have a second chance at life.”
Agents were assisted by the Germantown Police Department SWAT Team and D.E.A. – Memphis. This case is being prosecuted by the Office of the Shelby County District Attorney General, Steve Mulroy.
