Maury Police Chief Richard Stitts has pleaded not guilty

ALAMO, Tenn. (AP) – Maury Police Chief Richard Stitts has pleaded not guilty to charges that he assaulted and stalked the mother of his child.

Maury Police Chief Richard Stitts entered the plea Thursday in Crockett County General Sessions Court in Alamo.

Stitts’ attorney, Will Taylor,  his client is “chomping at the bit” to tell his side of the story.

Stitts was released on $2,500 bond.

Stitts is also scheduled to appear in court Dec. 11, on civil charges concerning an order of protection requested by the woman, Robbi B. Shawver. Stitts is to have no contact with Shawver, but he can have contact with their child.
