With a love of the medical profession and desire to help others, Matt and Morgan Baker have been the new faces of Health Care Pharmacy, 505 Roland Ave., since Jan. 1, 2018.
Sometimes fondly referred to as “Bill’s Pharmacy,” the Bakers obtained the business from Morgan’s uncle, Mr. Bill Richardson.
According to a press release from B3 Creative Agency, Bill Richardson officially opened Health Care Pharmacy in 1983.
During his time, Richardson forged strong relationships, maintained superior customer service, and built strong ties within the community. Over the past few years, Bill began thinking about winding down his career and started conversations with his nephew, Matt Baker, who was already employed at the pharmacy.
Matt and Morgan Baker met while at UT Pharmacy School.
Morgan was born in Jackson and raised in Henderson, while Matt is from Oneida, which is about an hour northwest from Knoxville.
Matt and Morgan Baker always enjoyed the environment of Health Care Pharmacy. Both grew up in independent, family-owned pharmacies.
Like their Uncle Bill, the Bakers have a genuine entrepreneurial spirit. They both wanted freedom from the corporate world and the flexibility of working at a local pharmacy.
After four years, with a smooth transition, the Bakers officially purchased Health Care Pharmacy in 2018. Matt and Morgan Baker continue to value the traditions that Richardson started.
“Here, we know your story. We know you personally,” Matt Baker said.
“Taking care of the patient is the most important thing,” said Morgan Baker
The Bakers pride themselves on their close relationships with patients. The Bakers know their customers by name.They also have excellent ways of doing business, with most customer wait times under five- or 10 minutes.
Inside Health Care Pharmacy, you’ll find a warm, peaceful atmosphere. The Health Care Pharmacy team also consists of Dr. Tiffany Roberts, along with two pharmacy techs, one cashier, two interns, and occasionally, the Baker’s two dogs.
Morgan Baker states, “taking care of the patient is the most important thing.”
