Man Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder for Knife Attack

(March 10, 2014) Jackson, Tenn.- Police have charged Eddie Pittman, age 56 of Jackson,  with attempted first-degree murder after a knife attack Friday morning  on Simms street. 

 

According to the Jackson Police Department,before 3 a.m. Friday, Jackson police responded to a house on the 100 block of Wilkinson Street where a 25-year-old man was outside with severe cuts to his arm and abdomen. 

 

Officers on the scene stopped the victim's arm to stop the bleeding before an ambulance transported him to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

 

The victim was treated and released from the hospital that same evening. 

 

JPD says that they were told that two men were involved in the attack, but investigators later found that Pittman acted alone.

 

The release notes that Pittman forced his way into the victims bedroom on the 300 block of Simms street, and the victim was able to get away and walk to the home on the 100 block of Wilkinson street. 

 

Pittman's Bond was set at $200,000 and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 20 in Jackson City Court at 1:30PM.
