Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators solve area armed robbery case

Madison County, TENNESSEE – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Humboldt Police Department, is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a recent armed robbery that transpired at the Three Way Maverick convenience store, situated in North Madison County.

On the night of September 9, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Maverick convenience store.

Witnesses reported three armed individuals, all identified as black males, brandishing handguns during the incident.

Subsequently, on September 19, 2023, officers from the Humboldt Police Department conducted a traffic stop, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Through a collaborative effort between the Humboldt Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators, it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle were potential suspects connected to the armed robbery that transpired at the Maverick convenience store just ten days prior.

The vehicle’s driver, identified as Davyonta Pharell Vaughn, 19 years old, from Trenton, Tennessee, developed as the prime suspect.

Two additional juvenile suspects were identified, located, and subsequently placed under arrest, although their identities are being withheld due to their juvenile status.

During questioning by Madison County Investigators, Davyonta Pharell Vaughn confessed to his involvement in the armed robbery at the Mavrick Convenience Store.

The firearms related to this incident were recovered by Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

Davyonta Pharell Vaughn is now facing a series of charges, including two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of criminal conspiracy, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.

It is essential to note that the investigation into these incidents remains ongoing, with law enforcement dedicated to ensuring a comprehensive resolution.
