Madison County Health Department confirms 1 additional COVID-19 death; 1,106 cases – up 38 from Saturday

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 67-year-old man died Aug. 1 due to complications from COVID-19, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 18 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 38 more confirmed cases of COVID-19. We now have 1,106 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include:

  • 46-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 56-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 42-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 60-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 40-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 26-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 6-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 30-year-old female (unknown hospitalization)
  • 70-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 54-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 22-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)
  • 56-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 61-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 39-year-old male (not hospitalized)
  • 13-year-old female (not hospitalized)
  • 48-year-old male (unknown hospitalization)

Our Epidemiology staff is still trying to contact some of these individuals, so hospitalization status is unknown at this time. We are also reaching out to people who had close contact with these cases.

Fifteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

Six hundred ninety-five Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19, and 66 people say they are feeling better.
