Madison County Democratic Party opposes recall of school board members

According to a press release, the Madison County Democratic Party overwhelmingly passed a resolution that opposes the ongoing efforts to recall Jackson-Madison County School Board members, Kevin Alexander and Doris Black.

The resolution passed during the organization’s July meeting.

“We believe the attempted recall is a wasted and unwarranted effort,” stated Madison County Democratic Party chair, Byron Elam. “The legislation that created this ability to recall school members only applies to Madison County. It was such a bad and useless bill, that the rest of the lawmakers in Nashville wanted no parts of it.”

The local Democratic Party believes that this issue transcends political partisanship.

Rather, this is an issue of right and wrong. None of the school board members have committed any offenses that would make their recall legitimate.

Recalling an elected official because you disagree with their policy decisions is ill-conceived.

The resolution was adopted by the over 40-member governing body of the local party.
