Jackson Chamber Events Statement

The Jackson Chamber team will continue to monitor the ongoing impact of COVID-19. At this time, we are evaluating each of our events planned for the next 60 days and will make decisions affecting those events on a case-by-case basis.

Rather than canceling events, it will be our goal to postpone or live stream any event that could pose a risk to attendees due to the gathering of a large group of individuals. Our decisions will be based upon information gathered from local health officials and guidance from federal, state and local directives.

As of today, the following events will be postponed or modified:

• March 20 – Chamber Member Breakfast featuring CapitolTalk will not be held with an audience, but will broadcast live from EPlusTV 6 from 8 – 9 a.m. Community members will have the opportunity to submit, via text and email, questions before and during the live event.

• April 9 – Leadership University Graduation scheduled for April 9th at Union University will be postponed.

Look for updates on JacksonTN.com and the Jackson Chamber’s social media for these upcoming events:

• March 26 – Business After Hours at LD2 Market Shoppes, 215 N. Church St., Jackson, TN 38301, from 5 – 7 p.m.

Jackson Generals address COVID-19 issues leading up to 2020 season

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is your office open?
A: At this time, our office is open. All Generals staff have been instructed to adhere to the CDC guidelines for hygiene and we ask that all visitors to the ballpark adhere to the same standards. We do ask that communication by phone or email be used if possible.
Q: When will Opening Night be?
A: Minor League Baseball announced yesterday, March 12th, that the season would be delayed in connection with Major League Baseball’s announcement to delay the season for two weeks. At this time, we do not know when our Opening Day will be, but we are excited to get the season started at the earliest possible time. We have a fun schedule of events lined up for 2020 and we look forward to bringing them to you.
Q: What precautions are you taking to ensure a safe and hygienic environment at the ballpark?
A: We’re employing all best practices for hygiene as recommended by the CDC to ensure that our offices and ballpark are as protected as possible.
Q: What should we be doing to help?
A: We urge everyone to follow the CDC guidelines for hygiene; avoid close contact with people who are sick, avoid touching your eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands, wash your hands often with soap/water for at least 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer as a back-up, stay home if you’re sick, cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
It goes without saying that we are in uncharted territory and we appreciate the patience and support of all our fans, partners and community. We will make sure that we keep everyone updated as events unfold. Player, coach, fan and staff safety are our #1 priority and we hope that everyone can remain healthy as we all navigate this crisis. We understand the importance and value that sports and family entertainment has on our day-to-day lives and we cannot wait to serve Jackson and West Tennessee again.

West Tennessee Healthcare – Health System Taking Proactive Measures to Screen Visitors

In our continued efforts to prepare for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect our patients and healthcare workers, we will be implementing new entrance screening procedures for patients and visitors.

At this time, our hospitals and clinics have not had any patients test positive for COVID-19. We are taking these proactive measures in an abundance of caution to do what is best for all those we care for.

To limit the spread of infectious disease, visitors will be asked questions, to understand if they are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath. Visitors may be asked to speak with one of our clinical staff members regarding their symptoms and depending on the situation, may be asked to visit a patient at a later date when their symptoms have ceased. Effective March 13, 2020, we are limiting entrance to facilities.

For example, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, there will be screenings taking place at the following locations:

· Main Entrance (revolving doors) 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.

· Garage One entrance on the first floor 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.

· Walkway from the Medical Office Building over Forest Avenue 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

· Patient Discharge (Forest Avenue) 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

· Entrance near Ayers Children’s Medical Center (Forest Avenue) 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

· Emergency Room main entrance 24 hours

We understand that this may be inconvenient for some of our visitors, but this process has been implemented to protect the well-being of all of our patients and staff, which is our top priority.

Visitors may also notice changes inside our facilities such as waiting room closures, dining option changes, and limitations on the number of visitors allowed in patient rooms.

It is important that our communities understand that limiting entry points does not mean limiting access to our hospitals and clinics. All of our facilities remain ready to serve potential and current patients. Limiting entry points to our facilities helps us to ensure we are able to monitor guest access to better

protect the safety and well-being of our patients, physicians, and healthcare staff during this time of heightened focus on wellness.

We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.
