(October 3, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- Lincoln Magnet School for Mathematics and Science, in conjunction with the Lincoln Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, are presenting Lincoln Literacy Night.
The event is focused on promoting literacy among children. Iretta Turner, principal at Lincoln, explains where the idea came from.
Why They Do It |
They will have activities for parents and students and guest readers. Guest readers include Councilman Harvey Buchannan, Councilman Ernest Brooks II, Jackson Police Department Captain Tyreece Miller, and others.
The program will also feature Lane College Cheerleaders, a Book-walk, the librarian who will explain different reading programs, reading programs and resources on the internet for parents and students, and a presentation of “3 Billy Goats Gruff” by Third Grade Class.
The evening concludes with refreshments. The event begins tonight at 5:30PM and runs until 7:30.
