(October 3, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- Lincoln Magnet School for Mathematics and Science, in conjunction with the Lincoln Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, presented Lincoln Literacy Night thursday night.
They had activities for parents and students and guest readers.
The program also featured Lane College Cheerleaders, a Book-walk, the librarian who explained different reading programs, reading programs and resources on the internet for parents and students, and a presentation of “3 Billy Goats Gruff” by Third Grade Class.
After the performance by the Lane College Cheerleaders, Councilman Harvey Buchannan came to the mic to deliver an opening speech and pep talk to the students. Councilman Buchannan had these words of encouragement for kids.

The purpose of the event was to promote literacy in children and helping parents get involved with their childrens education.
