No stranger to the Jackson-Madison County School System, Orentheus Taylor was named Liberty High School’s head football coach, Friday.
Taylor, who taught and served as an assistant football coach at now defunct Jackson Central-Merry High School, steps down as head coach as Trezevant High School in Memphis to take the same position at Liberty.
In his three seasons at JCM, Taylor had eight players to sign college scholarships.
Taylor replaces Tyler Turner who resigned December 12, 2016 to become the head football coach at Olive Branch (Mississippi) High School.
His resignation came 10 days after he led the Crusaders to their first appearance in the TSSAA state football finals.
