Killer B’s – Bodine, Bobrick and Berry Plastics adding 246,000-square-feet in Jackson

In two months time, three Jackson industries have announced plans for expansion.

Toyota Bodine, Bobrick-Mid-Continent and Berry Plastics Corporation are expanding, and here’s a few facts and figures about each.

On March 14, Toyota Bodine announced a $50.1 million investment to expand its existing facility at 301 James Lawrence Road an additional 65,000-square-feet.

The company will add 15 percent – or an additional 65,000-square-feet to the plant’s existing facility at 301 James Lawrence Road, near the Airport Industrial Park.

The expansion will mean an additional 13 jobs.

Toyota Bodine in Jackson manufactures 4-cylinder engine blocks for Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and V6 engine blocks for, Camry Highlander, Sienna, the Tacoma pickup and the Lexus ES and Lexus RX, and the V8 engine block for Sequoia SUV and Tundra truck.

Toyota Bodine also manufactures automatic transmission cases and housings for Avalon, Camry, Lexus RX 350 and Sienna.

About 2.2 million engine blocks and transmission cases are manufactured each year at the Jackson facility.

The floorspace expansion will incorporate about 1.5 acres under roof at the 10 acre under roof plant.

Officials with Bobrick Mid-Continent announced March 19, the company will add 40,000-square-feet to its existing facility at 100 Bobrick Drive in Jackson-Madison County Industrial Park.

The expansion will make room for high volume accessory products as well as its three brands of toilet partitions – Bobrick, Privada and Thrislington.

Construction began on the 100,000-square-foot building Bobrick now calls home in 1999, having relocated from a facility the company leased directly behind its existing facility.

The cost of the expansion is $6 million.

The expansion will increase the number of people on the payroll from 123 to 148.

The cost of the expansion or the number of new jobs it will create has not been announced, but Berry Plastics Corporation, 1005 Lower Brownsville Road, is expanding its operation by 141,000 square feet.

The new warehouse will be located at 45 Whalley Drive, adjacent to its Lower Brownsville Road facility.

The expansion will be the second for the manufacturer of food containers, and bottles for the health care market since December 2015.

An internal expansion incorporated about 40,000 square feet of warehouse space at the 190,000-square-foot facility on Lower Brownsville Road.
