From the Jackson Police Department –
The Jackson Police are investigating a case involving a Shotspotter Alert and shots being fired in the area of N. Royal and E. Forest Avenue.
At approximately 4:30 P.M. May 26th, officers with the Jackson Police Department were dispatched to the area of N. Royal and E. Forest for calls of shots being fired.
Responding officers, including officers working Operation Blue Impact, responded to the scene recovering shell casings and obtaining suspect information.
Based upon the information obtained during the initial investigation, Jackson Police, eventually, were able to locate the suspect vehicle and after a pursuit, Jackson Police were able to take the occupants into custody without incident.
After the occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, officers located an AR-15 style rifle inside of the suspect vehicle, reported stolen from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Based upon the preliminary investigation of shots being fired, officers believe this entire incident was domestic related and are not looking for any other persons.

In addition, at approximately 9 p.m., on the same date, May 26th, Jackson Police took a seventeen year old juvenile into custody for being in possession of a handgun with an extended magazine and
approximately 50+ grams of marijuana.

According to Jackson Police Chief Thom Corley “We are in the very early stages of Blue Impact and these arrests and the recovery of weapons and drugs serve to amplify the importance of our efforts. Let these initial cases be a warning. Unlawful gun possession and gun violence will not be tolerated in Jackson.”
