JACKSON Tenn – Downtown Dogs Group presented a new award this year, the Special Service Award. Dogs have long played a role in assisting humans in ways other than their companionship.
The honor recognizes that Since its inception in 1990, the K-9 Unit of the Jackson Police Department has played an important role in helping keep the community safe. These outstanding dogs and their excellent handlers, work tirelessly to protect the public from criminals and criminal activity. Each dog is trained for one or more duties such as detecting drugs or explosives, or tracking and apprehending suspects.
Sergeant Brandon Moss of the Unit serves on the Board of Directors of Downtown Dogs Group.
