John Christie Pleads Guilty In The Death of His Wife

John ChristieMadison County, TN – Circuit Court Judge Don Allen said he has tentatively accepted the plea agreement reached between John Christie’s attorneys and the Shelby County Special Prosecutor. Allen said he wants to know more about the details.

Last month Allen rejected a similar deal saying it did not serve justice.

On Tuesday in Circuit Court Christie agreed to plead guilty to reckless homicide and tampering with evidence in the death of his wife, Brittany Christie.

If Allen accepts the agreement Christie would be sentenced to four years for reckless homicide and six years for tampering with evidence. Christie’s total sentence would be ten years for the reckless homicide and the tampering with evidence charges

Christie would be released in four months to an “intensive in-custody program” where he would be in a work program, and receive drug and alcohol treatment, and parenting classes.

Upon completion Christie would be placed on probation for the remainder of his sentence.

Brittany Christie died after she overdosed on a mixture of heroin and clonazepam in an Old Hickory Inn hotel room on Dec. 6, 2013.

Christie’s next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.
