Jackson Tenn (March 9, 2015) — The Jackson Madison County school board
held their work session Monday night.
On the agenda discussions included the superintendents contract.
Board member Bob Alvey wanted to discuss a time frame for when the board
would discuss and make a decision on whether to offer superintendent Dr
Verna Ruffin a contract extension.
June 2015 will be the completion of Dr Ruffin’s 2nd year as superintendent
Of schools. According to her contract she must be given 1 years notice of
The board’s intention on whether the board will offer an extension.
Alvey wanted to know what the process would like like when the board did
Have discussions on the contract. The superintendent’s next performance
Review is in July of this year but that is too late to meet the June
contract deadline for contract extension discussions.
Alvey doesn’t want to wait until June because he will probably not be
Available because of the national school board association meeting
The board will have their regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 12 at
The JMC Central Office, 310 North Parkway.
Tonight the school board and county commission will hold their joint monthly meeting.
The Education Vision Committee will meet at 5:30 p.M. At the JMC Central Office.
The public is invited to attend both meetings.
