(January 20, 2014) JACKSON, Tn. – The Jackson Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce (JMCAACC) will hold its 13th Annual JEWEL Awards featuring Stellar Award-winning, Grammy-nominated gospel singer Vickie Winans on Friday, February 28, 2014, 6:30 p.m. at Oman Arena, 179 Lane Avenue in Jackson.
Tickets can be purchased from board members and at selected member business locations, including It's Printed, 357 N. Royal in Jackson; WOJG-FM 94.7, 123 W. Market in Bolivar; Golden Circle Insurance, 39 S. Jackson in Brownsville; Baskerville Funeral Home, 802 N. Ninth in Humboldt; and Sears, 6034 S. First in Milan.
Sponsored by City of Jackson, West Tennessee Healthcare, Lane College and AT&T along with media partners 96KIX, News Talk 101.5, Brownsville Radio, WOJG-FM, and West Tennessee Examiner, the annual JEWEL Awards Banquet and Concert honors outstanding contemporary and pioneer Black business owners and entrepreneurs in rural West Tennessee and raises funds for the organization's Follow Me Into Business®youth development program.
Last year's event highlighted 22 Historic Black Schools with entertainment provided by Smooth Jazz Progression.
Nominations for 2014 awards for contemporary small businesses will be accepted through February 1st. Nominee must submit a business packet upon written notice of their nomination. Banquet tickets are $50 each and a table of 8 is $400. Concert-only lodge seats are also available for $25 per person. Tickets can also be purchased on the chamber's website at www.jmcaacc.org.

A 501(3)c nonprofit organization, the Jackson Madison County Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1999 and established the Follow Me Into Business® youth development program in 2002. Clarence Boone, owner of D&L Grocery and Catering, is board president. Other board members are Charles Adams, Katie Brantley, Grady Carter, Nell Huntspon, Camille Jacox, Garey Jenkins, Bill Marable, and Paul Reaves.
