New LED Luminaires and floodlights, an amendment to the agreement for Network Infrastructure Facilities between JEA and Milan Utilities, and the authorization of an engineering agreement for construction of a new 2.5 MG Airport Industrial Park Elevated Water Tank, highlighted Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors monthly meeting, Thursday.
“We’ve gone to an LED type light,” said Jim Ferrell, president/CEO of Jackson Energy Authority, “This light has a lot less maintenance and a very long lifespan.
“We also approved an agreement with Milan Utilities … they decided to get into the broadband business, and we will be providing wholesale Internet to them.”
The Board approved the purchase of LED Luminaire lighting for the Electric Division from the Stuart C. Irby Company of Jackson in the amount of $578,000.
JEA provides a private outdoor lighting option for its customers and also installs and maintains all street lights for the City of Jackson.
The Board approved the purchase of LED Flood lighting from Border States Supply of Jackson in the amount of $210,600.
The flood lights are used for parking lots, recreational uses or general area lighting.
The Board approved a contract of $119,500 with Smith Seckman Reid Inc., to perform construction administration during the construction phase of the new water tank, which will be constructed by Landmark Structures in Fort Worth, Texas.
