The purchase of 12 replacement vehicles, a new camera inspection system for the Wastewater Division, and recognition of those who worked storm damage in Florida, highlighted Jackson Energy Authority’s Board of Directors monthly meeting, Thursday.
The Board approved the purchase of four vehicles totaling $104,451 from Homer Skelton Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Millington, two vehicles totaling $69,451 from Lonnie Cobb Ford of Henderson and the purchase of six vehicles totaling $164,419.16 from Golden Circle Ford of Jackson.
The Board approved the purchase of a new Cues camera inspection system installed in a 2019 Freightliner Sprinter Van from Cues, Inc., of Orlando, Florida, based upon their low bid of $189,000.
“We approved several replacement vehicles for our fleet, and we’re also replacing our camera truck for our Wastewater Division,” Jim Ferrell said, “This is the truck that does our inspection for our Wastewater line.

“We also discussed JEA’s response to help out with the folks in the Florida Panhandle when Hurricane Michael came through,” Ferrell said. “We sent a large crew, and they spent about a week in the Tallahassee area and this gave feedback to our board about what they learned, and the process they went through to help them to get power restored.”
JEA linemen who worked in Tallahasse were Charlie Jones, Travis Smith, Khayyan Henning, Jacob Myracle, Brad Henson, Nathan Cooke and Jason Towater.
