Jackson Central-Merry’s 47-38 win at Milan last week wasn’t just impressive – it was dominant.
The Cougars took down the team ranked No. 1 in last week’s Grace Media Group’s WNWS.COM Baker’s Dozen area high school football coaches’ poll and have gone from unranked to No. 5 in this week’s poll – up three spots from the September 16 poll.
JCM (4-0) also has the ‘Player of the Week’ from the REIDTEAM.COM and NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM – junior quarterback Terell Williams who completed 17-of-28 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns.
“It’s all about my teammates … we all work together. I have some athletes I can throw to. (Milan) had some gaps in their defense, and coach (Erit Turner) told us ‘Just pass the ball.’ We tried to open up the run. Coach said always move forward, don’t get ahead of ourselves, keep pushing and it’s on to the next game.” – Terell Williams, JCM quarterback
Coaches quote –
“Throwing for 320 yards and four touchdowns is real special. We knew we could play with Milan, but we knew we had to make a lot of plays.
“School spirit is good from the win on Friday, and we have Adamsville – a tough, well-disciplined, well-coached team this weekend for Homecoming.” – Erit Turner, JCM head football coach
