(February 9, 2015) JACKSON, Tenn. – One of the jailers where Zach Adams was held says he was threatened. Now authorities say the jailer filed a false report.
TBI says a former West Tennessee deputy sheriff employee made false statements to authorities. Now the former jailer is in jail on a charge of filing a false report
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 47-year-old Tommy Joe Austin filed a report on Jan. 11 with the Madison County sheriff’s office alleging he received a phone call threatening violence against him and his son for not “taking care” of Zach Adams.
Adams has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and murdering Holly Bobo.
The TBI says Adams was previously in custody in Chester County and that Austin is a former jailer there.
A Madison County grand jury indicted Austin, and he surrendered Monday. He’s being held at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.
The jail didn’t have information about whether Austin is represented by a lawyer.
