The Jackson Underdawgs opened play in The Basketball Tournament with a convincing 88-68 win over Eberlein Drive at historic Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, Tuesday.
Coached by Dexter Williams, the ‘Dawgs placed six players in double figures, led by Tevin Glass, who scored a team-high 21 points. Desonta Bradford added 15 points, Jaylen Bradford, 13, Cornelius Hudson, 12, Chris Jones, 11, and Jordon Varnado, 10.
Former University of Kentucky star Archie Goodwin paced the Drive – named after a street in Fraser, Michigan – with a game-high 26 points.
The Underdawgs got 34 points off the bench and outrebounded their opponent 46-36. Jackson scored 20 points off turnovers – which included 13 steals.
The ‘Dawgs return to action at 7 p.m. (CST), in Freedom Hall, Thursday, when they face The ‘Ville,’ which is made up of former University of Louisville players.
