JACKSON Tenn (June 14, 2016)– Citing EPlus Broadband’s fiber optic network, US Ignite has named Jackson, Tennessee a Smart Gigabit Community.
This designation includes the Hub City in the company of a national league of communities working to deploy future tech applications today. This designation places Jackson among the most forward-thinking communities in the country, according to a press release.
Ben Lovins, Senior VP of Telecommunications at Jackson Energy Authority stated, “We are so proud to be a Smart Gigabit Community. This project knits together researchers, citizens, community organizations, technology companies, entrepreneurs, academics and government officials across the country to begin to build the next generation of the Internet in our country.”
“We are thrilled to announce our national network of Smart Gigabit Communities,” said Glenn Ricart, founder of US Ignite.
“With the coordination of US Ignite, we expect each community in this program will create two interoperable smart community applications or services each year. If that happens, by the end of the year, we will have 30 gigabit applications or public services available to the entire network of Smart Gigabit Communities.”
