Jackson Rockabillys looking for host families

The Jackson Rockabillys are looking for housing for collegiate players from all over the country who will soon be coming to Jackson. Rockabilly players need a “home away from home” for the summer.

Hosting a player can be very rewarding for the host family, according to Rockabillys President and CEO Dennis Bastien.

“These college players can be a great role model for a family with kids and great company for empty nesters or retirees,” Bastien said. “Players and host families often develop friendships that last long after the end of the season.”

The Rockabillys, of the Prospect League, play 60 games in 68 days (including 30 games on the road), and will sometimes arrive home at 2 or 3 a.m. A separate bedroom, restroom, and laundry facilities must be available; and there are other requirements for host families.

Players will have their own transportation. The team has a Host Family Coordinator to answer questions that may arise.

The inaugural season begins May 31 with three games on the road. The Rockabillys return for the first home games June 2 and June 3.

Bastien said events planned for the season will be announced in the days to come, and promises a fun-filled first season, which wraps up on August 5.
